Swindon Martial Arts Centre Instructors were picked by to represent Great Britain at this years WAKO (World amateur Kickboxing organisation) world championships held in Dublin Ireland. Jason O'Grady and Andy Dunn trained hard twice a day for 2 months, up first was Jason who was actually a replacement fighter and was actually fighting in a weight category 3 above his normal weight. Former World champion Jason who put on over a stone in weight matched his opponent Primmos from Slovenia in the first 2 rounds but was 4 points down with 30 seconds to go in the third and final round, he pulled it back level but dropped a point with just 2 seconds to go finishing the dream, this will probably be Jason's last time competing internationally. Andy was drawn against an Austrian first and was always in control winning every round, next he was drawn against Kiril Petrov of Bulgaria this was to be a much tougher opponent however this was not to be, Andy held his distance perfectly and picked Kiril off with multiple high scoring head kicks. In the semi Finals Andy Faced former champ Robbie Mcmenomy of the home nation Ireland, Andy kept it tight for the first 2 rounds but Robbie used his vast experience to gain a useful lead and get the lead. Team GB also entered the Team event and took second after defeating Switzerland and USA but lost to defending Champions Hungary in the semi finals.
