Kickboxing and Sport Karate for all ages

Children's class - 4 - 12 year olds

Our children's class is an age specific programme for children between the ages of four and six years old. Originally written by a Martial Arts instructor and child psychologist, it has since grown to become one of the most popular children’s programs in the world, thanks to its ideal blend of basic Martial Arts, Life Skills and Safety Skills.

Aimed specifically at children of this age group, the program is structured to provide all students with a fun and safe learning environment, without being too physically or intellectually demanding.

Beginner's class

Our beginners’ class is an ideal introduction to martial arts training; the beginner’s class will equip you mentally and physically so that you can go on to a regular class with confidence. The classes are professionally structured to safely, and surely develop your martial arts, health, fitness, and self defence skills.

Our beginner’s classes will help you to:

  •  Lose weight
  •  Improve flexibility
  •  Improve fitness and stamina
  •  Increase confidence
  •  Reduce stress
  •  Learn basic self-defence techniques

Adults kickboxing - 12 - 60 years of age

Our Adult classes start from the age 12 years onwards and are open to both men and women, and have attracted a wide variety of people from different social backgrounds and cultures.

The class starts with a warm up session, which is similar to the Children’s Classes although run for longer and are more intense, then followed by martial arts training session.

The friendly environment of SMAF kickboxing means that we have several family groups training together. Our open approach to training has increased the confidence of many adults & children alike, many becoming more assertive as a result of the training that SMAF provides.

SMAF welcome all levels of adults into our classes, regardless of background, all we ask is that you have some self belief in yourself and do not give up as soon as things get hard. We will help you not only build your confidence, and your fitness, but give you a real sense of pride in yourself through achieving something.

One of the greatest advantages is that we have created many lasting friendships through our training which will last a lifetime…

Family class

Our Family Classes deliver martial arts learning through fun and engaging sessions where students are encouraged to reach their goals. The class offers a unique opportunity for your entire family to join in together and strengthen family bonds.

The family that kicks together sticks together!

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground, including boxing, wrestling, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, kickboxing, karate, judo and other styles.

The roots of modern mixed martial arts can be traced back to the ancient Olympic combat sport of Pankration. Various mixed style contests also took place throughout Europe, Japan and the Pacific Rim during the early 1900s. The combat sport of Vale Tudo that had developed in Brazil from the 1920s was brought to the United States by the Gracie family in 1993 with the founding of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which is currently the largest MMA promotion company worldwide.[1] Prior to the UFC, professional MMA events had also been held in Japan by Shooto since 1989.
